TODAY! One Great Hour of Sharing Offering
One Great Hour of Sharing is one for the four special mission offerings of the United Church of Christ. This Lenten Offering supports the disaster, refugee, and development ministries of the United Church of Christ with Wider Church Ministries.
The envelopes for this ministry are in each bulletin.
Helping Hands Food Pantry
Suggested items for the month of March are personal care items, such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, toilet paper, laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels.
Monetary gifts are also appreciated.
Wednesday Night Dinners During Lent
Before worship on Wednesday nights during Lent, we will continue to have dinner together downstairs. Hosts the next two weeks are: March 30 — Youth Groups, April 6 — Christian Ed
If you haven’t joined the choir for the 10 AM Easter Service please join Jamie Mercer for practice Wednesday after worship.
New Melle Passion Play
After a 2-year hiatus due to Covid, the New Melle Passion Play is being presented this year. A group from Bem Church is going to attend the 2 pm show. We will gather after church, have lunch together (maybe St. Peter’s Brunch) and then attend the show. If you are interested, please sign up in the Narthex. If you have any questions, please see Pastor Jeff.
Palm Sunday Brunch
St. Peter’s UCC’s Dorcus Woman’s Fellowship is hosting a brunch on Sunday, April 11 beginning at 10 am. The menu includes: biscuits and gravy, egg casseroles, cinnamon rolls, muffins, juices and coffee. There will be no charge, but a free-will offering will be taken for Ukraine Relief through the United Church of Christ’s partners in the region, namely the Reformed Church of Hungary.
Mark Your Calendars! Special Congregational Gathering
On Sunday, May 1, after a shortened worship service, we will have a gathering in the basement to discuss our church. We will use a meeting method called the “World Café” where small groups will discuss a series of questions presented.
Through this work, we will have guidance for the rewriting of the constitution, as well as beginning some new ministries and events, as well as possibly changing or eliminating some old. YOUR VOICE IS NEEDED AT THIS MEETING! This includes children and youth. Together we will work together following the lead of the Holy Spirit to make our church a beacon for this community.
Cemetery Clean-Up Day
The annual Cemetery Clean-Up Day will be Saturday, April 2, beginning at 9 am. We need all the help we can get cleaning the cemetery and other church grounds as we prepare for Easter. Please see John Kreter or Willis Howard for more information.
Spring Apple Butter
The Cemetery Committee is asking for help with the making of apple butter on Wednesday, April 27. Last year, the committee moved the making of apple butter to the spring, and it went quite well. Please see John Kreter or Nancy Jenkins with to volunteer.
Easter Egg Hunt
Candy is needed to stuff the eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt. The church has plenty of eggs, we just need candy. The Christian Ed committee and youth will be stuffing the eggs this Wednesday, March 30 and if necessary on April 10.
