St. John’s Bem is a caring, compassionate, rural congregation whose members are proud of our self-sufficiency and sense of community. Our country church sits on 80 acres of beautiful, quiet hills and woods in southern Gasconade County, Missouri. We are located just off Missouri Hwy 19, five miles south of Owensville. Cuba, MO is 15 miles to the south on Interstate 44.
Our vision is to continue to build our congregation, and our relationships in the community. We are a congregation that keenly values children and youth ministries.
Our ministries are typical of a church with the historic identity we hold: community picnics, mission projects, and involvement in youth, fair, and other community supports. Bem Church is known for the good food we serve and the fellowship given to all who attend our events. Each year we host a spring and fall picnic, a Smorgasbord in January, a German Dinner in November, and two steak nights. We are known for the quilts made by the women of the church that are auctioned at the church picnics. We are looked upon to provide help and support for local activities and missions. These include working at the county fair, Bloodmobile, Salvation Army bell ringing, CROP Walk, local food pantries and bingo at the nursing home.
